When to Replace Tires

There are plenty of ways to discern when your tires need to be replaced. Two of the easiest ways to tell are when your tread wear indicators turn on or by performing the penny test for tire wear. The penny test is where you take a penny and place it upside down between the tire treads. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, that means your tire treads are worn and that your Buick tires need to be replaced. Other signs that you need to replace your tires can include:

  • Your Chevrolet tires have a bulge or split
  • Your GMC tires have a puncture, cut or other damage that can’t be repaired
  • The tire tread or sidewall is cracked, cut or snagged and the tire cord or fabric is showing
  • You can see the tire cord or fabric through the rubber
  • You can see three or more tread wear indictors around your Buick tires

Parts of a Tire

Your GMC tires consist of many key components that work together to help keep you safe. These can include:

  1. Tire belts
  2. Tire sipes
  3. Tire tread
  4. Tire Grooves
